Opening: Assistant Professor

Eastern Oregon University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Cultural Anthropology at the assistant professor level, beginning fall 2012. We are seeking an energetic generalist with a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Demonstrated teaching skills, active scholarship, and willingness to work closely with colleagues in both anthropology and sociology are imperative. Experience teaching distance education is a plus. Outstanding candidates with specializations in cultural anthropology and linguistics especially are invited to apply. Specific area of expertise and/or geographical region of study are open.

Teaching responsibilities will include introductory anthropology courses offered both on-campus and through distance education. Development of courses related to the individual’s specialization is encouraged, particularly courses incorporating environmental anthropology, sex and gender, applied anthropology, museums and tourism, and service learning. Eastern faculty actively participate in academic advising, campus committees, curriculum development, and community outreach.
