Job Title: Lecturer in Cultural Anthropology, Collections Management/Museum Studies


Background: Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Anthropology invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, three-year renewable position at the rank of Lecturer in Cultural Anthropology, Collections Management, or Museum Studies, beginning January, 2014. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include creating and maintaining accession policy and curatorial protocol; overseeing documentation, care, access, and use of an ethnographic study collection of approximately 1000 objects; and engaging in undergraduate teaching. The university has a long-term commitment to this collection, and we expect the successful candidate to bring long-term visions for the collection's management. 

Qualifications: Requirements include a Ph.D. (preferred), knowledge of collection management software (preferably Past Perfect), a strong record of museum/collection management, training in the nature and operation of anthropology/natural history museums, and a promising teaching agenda. Candidates are expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for and commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship, and dedication to program development. Candidates must clearly exhibit excellence in museum-related fields. The individual will work with the Loyola University Museum of Art Registrar on policies and procedures. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
