Bonnie Pitblado, the director of Utah State University’s Museum of Anthropology, has accepted a position as an endowed faculty chair of anthropology at the University of Oklahoma and will be leaving USU.
Pitblado will occupy the Robert and Virginia Bell Endowed Chair in Anthropological Archaeology. The position was created last year after an Ohio couple — one of whom was an alumnus of UO — gave $2 million to create it, according to news reports from the Tulsa World.
Oklahoma has automatically promoted her to full professor.
