Salary package: $91,541 - $104,254 per annum plus 17% Superannuation

We are looking for an outstanding and highly motivated interdisciplinary scholar who is looking to explore new and cutting-edge research directions in museum studies and who would be willing to take a leadership role in our Museums and Collections program. The successful applicant's expertise would be in the broadly defined field of Museum Studies, but they would likely have a disciplinary background in History, Sociology, Anthropology, or a cognate interdisciplinary area such as Cultural Studies or Heritage Studies. Preference may be given to a person with research interests that bridge theoretical and applied museological fields of expertise and who can demonstrate an interest in the development of Museum Studies as an academic area of critical enquiry. An established publication record or the potential to develop a strong research profile is necessary.
Key responsibilities of the position would be to design and deliver a broad Museum Studies curriculum (museum history, theory, practice, research methods) at postgraduate and undergraduate levels and that ensures students gain a comprehensive and critical understanding of the theories, history, techniques, and problems common to museums. The successful applicant would also be expected to coordinate postgraduate internships, and develop and consolidate links (for research and teaching collaborations) with museums and collections in Australia or internationally. The ability to teach online or distance programs would be advantageous.
